The Transient Home

Located along the longest traffic vein of the Philippines, the KFI Transient Home is the first of its kind on EDSA, or in any other place in the country, for that matter. Working from (time here) on weekdays, its doors are open to all who seek shelter from the dangers the dark night can deliver.

To date, the Transient Home caters to all clients from all walks of life, free of charge. Those who are in dire need of medical assistance, financially distressed, victims of illegal recruitment; physically, psychosocially and sexually abused and exploited; people with no outright transportation in going back to the province are the prime beneficiaries of the Transient Home. The length of stay of each client depends on the nature of the case/problem. Social service intervention is being utilized in the daily routines of a social worker’s case management.

For more than 25 years of public service, KFI’s founder, Kuya Daniel Razon has made the happiness of others his life-long pursuit. Thus, the idea from the movie, The Pursuit of Happyness, has become the reality that is the Transient Home along the historic Epifanio De Los Santos Avenue—a historic highway for the first free transient home in the country’s history. And speaking of history…

It all started when two men at separate locations watched the same film and had the same idea. Kuya Daniel was one, and the other was the project’s primary supporter: Members Church of God International’s (MCGI) Bro. Eli Soriano. Seeing the hardships the characters in the movie suffered, the two thought of their fellow Filipinos who sleep on the streets, exposed to all kinds of maltreatment and abuse. And thus was the birth of the KFI Transient Home which officially opened its doors on October 29, 2008.
